About Marilyn Wightman
Marilyn Wightman started doing art as a youth and hasn’t stopped since. Throughout the years she has done oils, and colored pencil but the one constant is pastels. Having moved to New Mexico in 2010 from Ohio she has transitioned from portraits and still-lives to the inspiring landscape she finds here. Her work shows strong composition, enhanced local color and everyday scenes to entice the viewer to pause, relax and linger.
In the artist’s own words “It is the vegetation of New Mexico that I love to paint. The neutral colors and wave of the grasses just make my fingers itch to start a new painting.” Marilyn received an art education degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and has expanded her education with a variety of workshops and classes. She is a member of the Pastel Society of New Mexico, Signature Member, Plein Air Society of New Mexico and the Eldorado Arts and Crafts Association.
