Congratulations to Morika Hensley

Born and raised in Santa Fe and Taos, New Mexico, Morika Hensley is a graduate of Emory University (B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Sciences) and a recipient of a 2017-2018 Fulbright-Nehru student research grant.  During that period, she collaborated with the Snow Leopard Conservancy-India Trust in Leh, Ladakh.  Her research focuses on the presence of and potential for synergies between Tibetan Buddhist art and wildlife conservation.

Morika's Heart
This heart was originally handcrafted in wax by Morika Hensley when she was 3 years old, in 1997.  She was happily working at a table next to her mother 's wax carving bench and reflecting on the love she felt when thinking of her pre-school teacher, Erlinda Casados.  Erlinda is a teacher who sees the special gift inside of each child and then joins in the joyful process of nurturing them into flowering.

A mold of the original heart was made and its duplication is carefully supervised by Morika's mom, Tresa Vorenberg, a silver and goldsmith for over 40 years.  The profits from the sale of Morika's hearts are saved in her college fund.
