Tatiana: An artist attuned to her medium
The accomplished multi-talented ceramic artist, Tatiana, lives and works in New Mexico's high desert. Tatiana's artworks surprise and challenge, forcing one to think beyond the limits of conventional ideas to experience something more. This is the job of the true master of any art form: to deepen the mystery by invoking the unexpected.
Tatiana's fascination with art began during the impressionable childhood years on annual summer visits to Provincetown art studios, which opened her eyes to the compelling intimacy of hand made art. Winters found the young Tatiana immersed in music studies, which eventually led to a 15-year career as a professional cellist in the American West. A move to the east coast led her on the not-so-improbable journey from consummate cellist to unparalleled ceramic artist.
The convergence of the two paths she has traveled is revealed in the unrelenting discipline she applies to both artistic ventures. Each of Tatiana's ceramic pieces must sing, which can happen in any art form only when the artist is attuned to the medium.
Tatiana's work is shown in galleries in Santa Fe and Taos, NM; Denver, CO; Omaha, NE; San Antonio, TX; Baltimore, MD; the HeartMath Institute in Boulder Creek, CA; Gump's in San Francisco, CA ; and is part of the permanent collection at the National Cathedral in Washington, DC.
Tatiana's collections are variations on a theme. The authenticity, truth and beauty of each of her pieces evolve from a heartfelt process. The Relic Collection honors our individual stories as well as our collective past. The Infinity Collection has no beginning, no end. The Resonance Collection speaks directly to Tatiana's many years as a professional cellist, The allure of each collection comes from its effortless elegance as well as the lavish use of gold and platinum.
“I use real 23k gold and palladium in my work.”
"I honor the earth and stand in awe of fire.”

I want my work to be collected with enthusiasm and great pleasure - a joy commensurate with the joy that I experience in making the pieces.”
Known for her 23K gold and palladium glazes, Tatiana brings opulence into your every day through her luxurious, functional ceramics. Each piece has to sing, which can only happen when the artist is attuned to the medium. The authenticity, truth and beauty of her work evolves from a heartfelt process, and the allure of each collection comes from its effortless elegance.
Tatiana works in conceptual series which emanate extraordinary energy and also often tell a story. She creates each piece by hand on a potters wheel, free of molds and templates. After firing at 2300 degrees in a large kiln, she carefully anoints her work with 23k gold and palladium, then re-fires until the precious metals anneal to the glaze on the fired ceramic piece.
Tatiana earned a B.A. in Ceramics from the University of Arizona in 1972 and went on to create works for the National Cathedral in Washington, DC, HeartMath Institute in Boulder Creek, CA, the Dalai Lama, and Oprah Winfrey. Tatiana currently lives in the mountains of New Mexico, where she is continually inspired by the ever-changing landscape.
“My work is glamorous while simultaneously rooted in the tradition of ceramic makers.”
